Chief Official:  Don Russell

The Race Map and Profile Hotlink

Race is to support the Granite County Search and Rescue Association

The GCSR will be providing volunteer support, radio connectivity, 4-wheeler assistance and medical support.  This unit supports the US Forest Service during fire season, searches for lost backcountry trekkers and skiers, and assists the local volunteer fire department.  This is a very deserving, seriously underfunded organization.

Registration:  Located at the Granite County High School; 9am-12:30pm.  Via Hwy 1 from Anaconda, take the right turn prior to town which directs to downtown Philipsburg.  About two miles, just past the old railroad underpass, on the left is the school.  Do not go to the school with the tall clock tower, that's the elementary school, the HS is just to the south.  From Hwy 1 from Drummond, take the main turn into Philipsburg, just past the Sunshine Station (Sinclair gas station) and go to the four-way stop and blinking stop light; turn right up the hill.  At the top of the hill, on the right are the schools.

Cost:  On-site (no late registration) is $20.  If there are more than 30 riders, there will be a small payout.  All profits go to the Search and Rescue teams.  There will be a raffle for all racers 30 minutes after the race finish.

The race starts at 1pm (all categories) with a parade pace through the business district and up to the start line.  The counter-clockwise course will be on a lot of mining roads with some short technical uphill, a long (2 mile) climb and fast downhills, on gravel roads, double track, and a little single track; all on rather loose gravel and rocks.  It will pass a couple of ghost towns and abandoned mines.  We don’t go to Granite ghost town, but close; that’d be a 4 mile climb.  If you have time you will see some of the most productive Silver and Manganese mines in US history.  All profits from the race go to the Granite County Search and Rescue.

Helmets are required any time riders are on their bikes.  Restrooms are available in the high school and park, but no shower facilities will be available after the race unless you talk to me very nicely and you can use my small house which everyone will be riding by.

Awards ceremony will be at the covered park pavilion three blocks south of the school.  Hot Dogs and Chili will be sold by the Search and Rescue organization.
